The 2013 SEC tournament brackets have had interesting results so far. Most notable of the SEC tournament bracket surprises was a huge upset win by Vanderbilt over Arkansas on Thursday (March 14). Coming into the game, the Vanderbilt Commodores had just a 14-16 record compared to the 19-12 record held by the Arkansas Razorbacks. This is why they play the games though, as the Commodores advanced to the SEC quarterfinals.
The road isn't going to get easier for Vanderbilt, as they now have to play against the Kentucky Wildcats in the next round. Kentucky secured a No. 2 seed in the conference tournament and is looking to make some noise in preparation for the NCAA tournament. It's a tough match-up for sure, but Vanderbilt is playing with house money at this point.
Another small upset took place as LSU upended Georgia in one of the earlier games. LSU was the better team during the regular season, but received a lower seed in the tournament after stumbling in some late conference games. So many fans might not even consider this an upset within the tournament.
Mississippi State, after beating South Carolina in the first round, couldn't figure out how to stop Tennessee in one of the other second round games. The win by Tennessee sets up a game against Alabama on Friday (March 15) that is sure to be a good one as well. For LSU and Vanderbilt more than momentum is going to be needed to advance any further in the 2013 SEC tournament brackets.
