LSU Sports reports that the LSU men's basketball team was picked to finish No. 4 in the SEC in the annual Media Days conference poll on Wednesday morning, October 16, 2013.
Members of the media are selected by each team and by the SEC conference office to participate in the poll each year.
The Kentucky Wildcats took the top spot for the ninth time with 21 first place votes. Florida and Tennessee also received first place votes, five and one, respectively.
LSU's Johnny O'Bryant III was named to the SEC pre-season first team. O'Bryant, a junior, plays the forward position for the Tigers.
Julius Randal of Kentucky received the most votes for SEC Basketball Player of the Year Award with 11 total votes. Jordan McRae from Tennessee received five votes, LSU's Johnny O'Bryant III received three votes, Jarnell Stokes from Tennessee received three votes, Florida's Patric Young got two votes, Marshall Henderson from Ole Miss received two votes and Alabama's Trevor Releford received one vote for the SEC Basketball Player of the Year Award.
The SEC Media Days are held today and tomorrow (Oct. 16-17, 2013) in Birmingham, Al.
LSU's first basketball game this season will be on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 against Univ. of Mass. at the Mullins Center in Amherst, Mass.
