Bindi Irwin, the daughter of the late “Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin, is the new spokesperson for SeaWorld. The 15-year old animal advocate was recently hired to improve the parks' image. According to a March 8 report by TMZ, Bindi Irwin's handler is keeping a sharp eye on what the teen says.
The handler quickly stopped Bindi Irwin from answering a photographer who asked if she was an animal expert. The teen had been talkative until that point. It is believed that the handler thought the question would lead to questions regarding “Blackfish.”
“Blackfish” was a documentary about the health, safety and well-being of the killer whales that are in the care of and perform for SeaWorld. “Blackfish” did not portray SeaWorld in a positive light. After the airing of “Blackfish,” many people became aware of the conditions that the whales live in.
Fans of both Steve Irwin and his daughter must be curious why Bindi Irwin agreed to be the spokesperson for SeaWorld. With their credibility in question, it appears strange that anyone in the Irwin family, known for their stance on the treatment of wild animals, would work for SeaWorld.
