The Seattle Sounders will host Columbus Crew in the 2010 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup final on October 5 at Qwest Field at 7:00 PM ET to be broadcast on Fox Soccer Channel
In semi-finals on September 1, the Crew defeated DC United 2-1 at RFK Stadium. DC opened the scoring when Pablo Hernandez converted a penalty kick in the 13th minute, but he was ejected in the 59th minute and reduced the home team to ten men. The Crew equalized in the 89th minute when DCU keeper Mark Burch deflected Andy Iro’s shot for an own goal and Guillermo Barros Schelotto scored the game winner in overtime.
Also in semifinals on September 1, Seattle trounced Chivas USA 3-1 at Starfire Sports Stadium in Tukwila, Washington for a capacity crowd of 4,547. Seattle’s Nate Jacqua opened the scoring in the 10th minute assisted by Steve Zakuani, who also assisted on Fredy Montero’s goal in the 59th minute. Jesus Padilla assisted by Justin Braun cut that lead in half in the 66th minute, but Jacqua scored again in the 92nd minute, this time assisted by Roger Levesque.
