Seattle's Olympic Sculpture Park celebrates five years with a cupcake party!

Seattle Art Museum's Olympic Sculpture Park is turning five, and SAM is throwing a party! It seems like the park just opened, but it's already been five seasons of art in the park. Or to put it in numbers:

  • 60 months of growth for the native plants
  • 1,800 sunsets over the Olympic Mountains
  • Around 2.5 million people walking (and running!) through the park.

And of course, there's the art, which includes more than 20 pieces of sculpture sited on nine acres. New and temporary works are installed regularly.

FREE BIRTHDAY PARTY

SAM is inviting the public to a free birthday party, complete with cupcakes and chocolate caramels, courtesy of TASTE. Also free Olympic Sculpture Park tee-shirts to the first 400 kids; creating birthday hats using Mark di Suvero's Bunyon's Chess as inspiration); and special park tours. Although it's free, a $5 donation will go toward SAM's Annual Fund. The birthday party is Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012 from 11 AM - 3 PM at Olympic Sculpture Park, 2901 Western Avenue, Seattle.
