Don't network, forge bonds
Technology is alive and well in Seattle which means there are many business networking opportunities. For example, the WTIA Octoberfest is coming up in a few days.
And the charitable organizations are a red hot venue for meeting people who can assist you with your job search.
When you get to know someone during a shared project or passion, you forge a much deeper bond which often leads to exactly the support you want.
Don't be shy about signing up to help with programs, presentations and events. Sure your time is limited, but if you consider your efforts part of your job search, the window opens. Take a look at the iloveSeattle calendar for non-profit events and charities.

Seattle area has such a wealth of business/social networking options that many calendars are available to track them. There is some overlap, but getting on their feeds will give you a constant selection. For starters, here's a few more popular calendars. My favorites include:
Tech Flash: Check back often. I like this collection because it includes some of the smaller events.
Seattle Tech Calendar: Actually in calendar form. So many events, so little time.
TIE: Especially for the entrepreneurs out there.
MIT Enterprise Forums: The venerable technology events attract significant speakers for relevant topics.
Seattle Times Business Calendar: An odd mixture of events to evaluate.
Seattle 24/7: Some overlap from the other calendars, but unique entries as well
Craigs list: For some really unique events.
Meet Up Seattle: Follow your passions with a variety of groups and events.
Xconomy: Highly focused on Seattle tech events. This is one of my top choices.
This should keep you busy and your calendar full. Target strategically and know who you want to meet. If you like other calendars please let me know for future posts. Seattle is a dynamic place and mini-meetings pop up every day. Check back often, or subscribe, as I list other calendars and events.
