There’s nothing worse than painful gas accompanied with a big bloated belly. The pain deep within your lower abdominal that you can’t seem to get rid of after a less than favorable meal is difficult to put into words but most have experienced it. No matter how many Tums you may pop and chew you sadly recognize that there is no magic pill. But there’s good news, did you know that the seated twist is the best way to relieve painful gas and bloating? Here’s how.
Your digestive health can be can be negatively affected not just by what you eat but also your hectic schedule and the stress that goes along with it. A regular yoga and meditation practice will naturally help you battle your stress and anxiety and the breathing techniques that are incorporated will give your organs fresh oxygen to keep them running more effectively. Bloating and gas is improved through deep breathing because it supplies the digestive organs with a fresh blood supply.
The seated twist is considered to be one of the best ways to relieve painful gas and bloating. Any yoga pose that requires you to twist through your abdominal organs will help reduce built up air and bloat but this one is favored. Compressing through your center wrings out trapped gas that would otherwise stay put for hours or even days longer than it has to.
As you sit on your best chemical free yoga mat, always remember to practice the seated twist with a tall spine. Start by twisting from the lower area of spine upward with the shoulders and head turning last. As you practice the seated twist pose try to completely relax your body and focus on finding inner peace as this will aid in releasing your painful gas.
