During the month of January, you notice all the after-Christmas sales, but are you aware of the seasonal sales calendar? There are certain times of the year that you can anticipate items to go on sale and plan that into your budget. Here is a list of what typically spans the sales calendar.
January: After-Christmas sales on items such as Christmas cards, candies, calendars and decorations. This is great time to buy an artificial Christmas tree and the ornaments. March: This is a good time to buy winter clothing, coats and sweaters. Spring promotions start for garden equipment, camping gear and luggage.
April: Spring clothing and tax reporting deals are usually available. Easter candy goes on sale the day after. Look for deals on men's suits and cameras and outdoor equipment.
May: Gardening supplies, mattresses and outdoor furniture sales are popular. Also Mother's Day sales for jewelry and graduation gifts. And watch for mattress sales and Memorial Day sales for the start of summer.
June: Summer sports equipment, furniture and men's clothing and tools for Father's Day sales.
July: After the 4th of July, swim suits go on sale, also look for discounts on summer clothing, cooking grills and beach items. Big ticket items like air conditioners and bicycles, major appliances and furniture are also featured.
August: Back-to-school sales offer discounted school supplies and office equipment. Also furniture sales will be offered. Clearance items for outdoor sports equipment, fans and swim wear.
Sept: Labor Day sales include almost everything from the last of the warm weather selection plus patio furniture, pool & yard equipment, lawn mowers and tires. New car models and furniture sales are featured.
Oct: Candy and costumes for Halloween plus fall clothing and winter coats. Travel bargains may be promoted. Columbus Day sales cover most home items such as appliances and bedding.
Nov: The early push for the holiday season, of course Black Friday and Cyber sales cover all the gifting items and clothing plus electronics.
Dec: Holiday sales focus on toys and electronics plus big items, like new cars. But there are great deals after the holidays on winter clothing and boots.
