Seasonable Weather Continues For The Weekend

Climate report for Friday
Climate report for FridayScott Derek

Friday was another beautiful Summer day despite more clouds than we saw on Thursday; I mentioned the other day that today was going to be deja vu......and I was right! Once again we reached a high of 84 at Philadelphia International Airport shortly after 3pm after a morning low of 65(that was EXACTLY the high and low for Thursday!); granted the average high should be 87 and the average low is 70, but when you can actually open your windows or turn on a fan opposed to running the A/C continuously that's win in my book!

Mid-level clouds have been streaming in along a short wave that will stay west of the region over the weekend
Mid-level clouds have been streaming in along a short wave that will stay west of the region over the weekend NOAA

Speaking of clouds we'll have some overnight so lows will be in the middle 60s; Saturday will feature a mixture of sunshine and clouds(more as the afternoon wears on as we reach our convective temperature; this is usually referred to as "self destructive sunshine") as highs will approach the middle 80s. There will be an easterly wind around 10mph so with that onshore flow it will just be in the 70s at the shore if you plan on heading down there. Overnight will be partly cloudy with lows in the lower 60s while Sunday will feature clouds in the afternoon(but we'll stay dry through sunset) with highs once again near the middle 80s.

Come Sunday night that short wave feature will swing to the east and provide some showers and thunderstorms with lows in the upper 60s while Monday morning we'll clear out and have sunshine in the afternoon with highs in the middle 80s and a continued onshore wind. Come Tuesday high pressure pushes further to the east and we'll get more into a southerly flow; this means that the humidity will return as well as being hot with highs approaching 90 with plenty of sunshine. Same will go for Wednesday with highs in the lower 90s.

Come Thursday a cold front will be approaching from the west, but it's still going to be hazy, hot, and humid ahead of it. Highs will remain in the lower 90s with showers and thunderstorms by the afternoon that will linger overnight with lows in the middle 70s as well as into Friday with highs around 90.

That's still a LONG ways away so for now just focus on this weekend; enjoy it and remember that you can view my 7-day forecast(any time) along with satellite and radar images at www.scottderekwx.com/forecast.html.
