The current episode of Mystery Diners aired on the 25th of this month and comes from Las Vegas, Nevada at Brasil Steakhouse.
Brasil Steakhouse has a basic mode of operation. Customers pay a fixed $44.99 for all the grilled meat they can eat. This flat-rate includes 18 meats, 16 sides, a gourmet salad bar and coffee. Dessert is extra.
Meat does not leave the restaurant. At all.
Lately, there's a problem.
Owner Adam Gomes explains that meat consumption has almost doubled during previous weeks and there is none who can explain the loss.
Enter Charles Stiles and his team.
The team focuses on JP, the night manager and head waiter Darin.
Darin is found to be observing company policies and just doing a good job.
However, JP is going far and wide to extract product and money from the Brasil as he has concocted a fake charity, complete with bogus literature, for which he asks a $20.00 donation in order that customers may dine. Guess who pockets that money?
Stiles sends in one of his men, posing as a product distributor. He is armed with samples for Gomes to try.
JP quickly places most of the product into the freezer, excepting the $80 worth of Kobe beef, which he totes to the trunk of his car, where people normally keep their expensive frozen items.
Gomes, pulls JP into the observation area and busts him with this knowledge and JP becomes defensive about what he's doing and for keeping the beef.
It's another outstanding episode, capturing employees, just flat out doing the wrong thing.
