NBC announced its fall lineup on Sunday, and as expected, “The Biggest Loser” will return for season 15 on Oct. 8.
It’s moving back to its old day and timeslot of Tuesdays at 8 p.m., but the show itself is going on a diet of sorts – instead of two-hour episodes, the show will be slimmed down to one hour, with “The Voice” taking the 9 p.m. hour.
Many "Biggest Loser" fans have remarked via Facebook and Twitter over the years that the show doesn't really need to be two hours long. You’ll still get your challenges, your weigh-ins, your tearful eliminations and, of course, your trips to Subway, without the bloat of an extra hour.
The show has paired down to hourlong episodes from time to time and it hasn’t lost anything. If anything, the tighter editing moves the show along better and lends a little more excitement.
No big changes this season -- trainers Jillian Michaels, Dolvett Quince and Bob Harper are all set to return, as is host Alison Sweeney.
Casting for season 15 is going on right now. While the open casting calls wrapped up this past weekend, you can still apply through the website at thebiggestlosercasting.com. But applications have to be postmarked by today (Monday, May 13, 2013), so if you’re still on the fence, you had best hop off now.
