Sean Penn charged with battery and vandalism misdemeanor Friday. In October, Sean Penn kicked a photographer and broke his camera. Friday, Penn was charged with battery and vandalism. If convicted, Penn, 49, faces up to 18 months in jail. Penn has a court date set for March 22, 2010 in Los Angeles.
A TMZ reporter (who hid in his car) caught the alleged altercation on video, click here to see it. In the video, Penn can be seen kicking the photographer, but the breaking of the camera isn’t caught on film.
An angry Penn yells “Get out” to the photographer over and over.
The Los Angeles city attorney's office said: "We are alleging he kicked a photographer, and we are also accusing him of breaking the photographer's camera," said Frank Mateljan.
Penn has won Oscars for Best Actor for "Milk" and "Mystic River".
Penn has a history for getting angry at photographers. In 1985, he received a suspended sentence after attacking two British journalists who took photos of his wife, Madonna.
In 1987, Sean Penn was already on probation when he punched a movie extra on the set “Colors” for taking photos of him. Crew members had to pull him off the movie extra. He was sentenced to 60 days in jail.
Penn was already on probation for punching a man he thought kissed his wife, Madonna. He was sentenced to one year of probation and $1,700 fine.
In 2008, the Tree of Life in which Sean Penn stared was filmed in Goblin Valley State Park in Utah.
