Tonight, Jan. 26, The Bachelor franchise tried something they have never done before: they aired Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici’s wedding live. The couple met last year and fell in love on The Bachelor before getting engaged during the show's finale.
Before the couple got married, tonight’s special also chronicled their wedding planning process. Catherine was focused on the themes “grown sexy” and “whimsical,” which she shared with celebrity wedding planner, Mindy Weiss, and Sean. Sean was confused and needed an explanation, but all he really cared about was Catherine having her dream wedding.
While Catherine picked out a wedding dress, Sean made an awkward trip to a lingerie store to try and pick some items out for their Honeymoon. The couple also decorated a cake together at a bakery and decided on wedding flowers. Catherine even took pictures for Sean wearing her new lingerie, which she planned to give him for a wedding gift.
Chris Harrison sat down to chat with Sean and Catherine to check in and get their thoughts on their upcoming nuptials, wedding night, and Honeymoon.
After all the taped pre-wedding footage, the live wedding finally began, starting with an incredibly long processional that included Catherine’s 12 bridesmaids and Sean’s nine groomsman. (The ceremony was held at the Four Seasons Biltmore in Santa Barbara, California). As Catherine made her way down the aisle to Michael Jackson’s “Human Nature,” played by 2Cellos, Sean shed a few tears. Sean’s father officiated the ceremony, and the happy couple read vows they had written themselves. The couple shared a few kisses before Sean’s dad introduced “Mr. and Mrs. Sean Lowe,” everyone cheered, and flower petals fell down from above…and Sean cried, again.
Sean and Catherine made their way back down the aisle and shared a private moment in front of the camera, away from their guests.
Chris Harrison checked in with other married couples that spawned from The Bachelor franchise: Ashley and JP and Trista and Ryan, who were all happy for Sean and Catherine and to be there.
