Sean Kanan reveals the reasons behind his upcoming exit

In a move that shocked his many fans, Sean Kanan (AJ) recently revealed the reason for his exit on ‘General Hospital.’

‘I was utterly thrilled to be brought back to GH for the 50th anniversary and really enjoyed working with [executive producer] Frank Valentini, but I was not over the moon about the writing. Doing stories about panic attacks and relish was not what I thought I'd signed up for. I feel I brought everything I could to the character yet it was obvious they weren't going to give me a great love story, which I found very disappointing,’ Kanan told TV Guide exclusively.

‘… you can only survive on a show for so long without one. I could see the writing on the wall. I spoke with Frank and we mutually agreed that if I wasn't happy, and they could find a good way to write me out, that it was best to wrap it up,’ the actor shared about his character’s lack of a romantic relationship.

Now for the good news – Kanan will soon return to ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ as the devious Deacon Sharpe.

‘Deacon is my favorite of all the characters I've played,’ Kanan shared. And many of his loyal fans agree.

Kanan will be seen on ‘GH’ for much of April. Watch for the actor to first air on ‘B&B’ in mid June.

‘General Hospital’ airs weekdays at 2pm on Detroit’s local ABC affiliate WXYZ Channel 7.
