Fans of “General Hospital” have been speculating for a while about the fate of A.J. Quartermaine. The character was brought back to Port Charles for the celebration of 50 years on the air. Sean Kanan had not been given anything substantial in terms of story lines and every time fans believed he was going to end up with Elizabeth, something ruined it. According to a March 17 report from We Love Soaps, Sean Kanan is leaving “General Hospital” and returning to “The Bold and the Beautiful” as Deacon Sharpe. There is no news on whether or not A.J. Quartermaine will be recast or killed off.

The story line surrounding A.J. Quartermaine's shooting could go either way. If the “General Hospital” writers and casting directors choose a recast, things will play out differently than if they decide to just kill him off. Right now it is being speculated that writers will have A.J. Quartermaine die in order to preserve the relationship between Michael and Sonny. Sean Kanan will continue reporting to work until the end of March and will begin taping at “The Bold and the Beautiful” in April.

Fans will be able to see Sean Kanan air on “General Hospital” at least through mid-April. Deacon Sharpe will appear on “The Bold and the Beautiful” beginning June 13.
