Syndicated radio and FOX News host Sean Hannity was in Sarasota last Friday night to receive the Republican GOP Statesman of the Year Award. An audience of 2,000 attended the event, which was underwritten by the Republican Party of Sarasota at Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall.
Other speakers included Florida Governor Rick Scott and State Attorney General Pam Bondi before Sean Hannity took the stage to accept the award. Hannity also was part of a VIP reception where he posed for photos, signed autographs and shook hands.
The Republican Party of Sarasota has also presented its Statesmen of the Year award in recent years to former Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour and Donald Trump.
Hannity’s radio show airs locally in the Tampa Bay area on 970 AM WFLA. FOX News Channel announced recently that Hannity’s show will move to 10 p.m. weeknights to make room for Megyn Kelly’s “The Kelly File” in his former 9:00 p.m. slot. Greta Van Susteren is moving to 7:00 p.m.
National ratings for last night’s Tampa Bay Rays/Texas Rangers game 163 on TBS were down from the last time a tie-breaker contest was played in 2009. The game garnered a 2.4 overnight rating, down nearly fifty percent from the Minnesota Twins/Detroit Tigers play-in game four years ago.
Last night’s Monday Night Football game between the Miami Dolphins and New Orleans Saints had a 9.7 overnight rating, 16 percent lower than last season’s Chicago Bears/Dallas Cowboys game in week four.
The Rays game 163 and the Bucs woes were among the topics Don Henderson and I talked about Monday night on “Sports Talk”. Click here to listen to the podcast.
