Music mogul, fashion guru, marketing genius and adult beverage entrepreneur, Sean Combs, has added TV producer to his resume. Although he’s dabbled in TV before with MTV’s “Making the Band”; Puff Daddy’, ‘Diddy’, ‘P. Diddy’, or whatever you want to call him, will launch his own TV venture, ‘Revolt TV’ tonight at 8:00pm.
Launching in major cities like New York, Los Angeles and Chicago through Time Warner Cable and Comcast, Combs promises that ‘Revolt TV’, owned by Combs Enterprises, will be a multi-genre platform for music. The goal is to deliver music and music news in real-time. Combs has stated that the show will be the “ESPN of music”.
Combs has enlisted Keith Clinkscale to be CEO. Clinkscale has helped Quincy Jones launch Vibe Magazine and has spent years as a content developer for ESPN. Ever the smart businessman, Combs has also enlisted a team of executives such as Val Boreland of Comedy Central and Lifetime Television and Andy Schuon of Ticketmaster, Warner Brothers and MTV.
Nowadays, music lovers can view music content on the web through YouTube. Combs wants to bring music lovers back to TV. The goal is to mirror the momentum of the social network by presenting a 24-hour music TV channel. Sound familiar?
MTV started the same way in the 1980’s.
According to dailyfinance.com, ‘Revolt TV’ promises to be “live, direct, and always on - anytime, anywhere, any screen.”
