If you're planning to fly Alaska Airlines, put on your Russell Wilson #3 jersey for early boarding on all Seattle departures. The promotion went into effect during the Seattle Seahawks playoff run last year and is good through the duration of the team's 2014 NFL football season.
So why Wilson's jersey? The Seahawks quarterback is the CFO (Chief Football Officer) of Alaska Airlines, a multi-year partnership between the Seattle-based airline company and Wilson. In addition to appearing at several exclusive Seattle events, the popular quarterback has been featured in four TV commercials and had a plane dedicated in his honor. The Russell Wilson Passing Academy is also part of the package, providing inner-city and underprivileged youths the opportunity to attend football camp with the star quarterback.
"This year Alaska Airlines is hoping to bring even more blue and green to the skies," said Alaska Airlines' Joe Sprague of the latest promotion. In addition to the early boarding perk, Alaska Airlines is making away games a bit more affordable for 12s wanting to support their hometown team. Football fans can follow Wilson and the Seahawks on the road this season and receive 10% off airfare to select away games. They include:
- September 14 - San Diego
- October 6 - Washington, DC
- October 19 - Saint Louis
- November 16 - Kansas City
- December 7 - Philadelphia
