Williams, an assistant professor of sculpture at the University of Texas in Austin, “tests the structural limits of materials as well as conventional understandings of where art begins and ends” with his structural experiments, the gallery said in a statement about the artist’s work.
His works are a reminder of “the essence and the decline of American industry,” and suggests that deterioration is a creative process.
“New/Used/Wet/Broken” will be on display through Saturday, February 8.
