This spell is based on an ancient scrying method, divination is done with water.
You will need:
- a metal bowl – copper will work best, but any metal will do. If you do not have a metal bowl, you can line a bowl with aluminum foil and that will work just as well.
- three blue candles
- one white candle
- one purple candle
- three fresh sage leaves
- three fresh basil leaves
- pinch of rosemary tips - no twigs
- pinch of dried thyme
- olive oil
- obsidian stone
Fill the bowl halfway with water.
Next you must light the three blue candles ~ blue is the color of the soul ~ the white candle ~ for spirit ~ and the purple candle ~ for pyschic awareness. Place these candles round half of the bowl farthest away from you in this order: blue, white, blue, purple, blue.
Take the three fresh sage leaves and three fresh basil leaves, placing them in the bowl at the bottom. with your hands, take the pinch of rosemary tips, the pinch of dried thyme ~ mix them with enough olive oil to make a paste ~ you must do this with your fingers ~ don’t use any other implement. Use this mixture to coat over the obsidian stone. When the stone is well coated, place it into the bowl, so that it holds down the leaves. Rinse your fingers in the bowl, and you will notice small bits of the dried herb floating to the surface. Take your fingers out of the bowl, and then wait for patterns to begin to form on the surface of the water from the dried herbs. Look into the lights of the candle flames and concentrate , singing and chanting very softly:
“Ancient wisdom, please foretell,
I say the words, I cast the spell.
From peace, hope and harmony,
The future I wish to see.
Just a glimpse I ask of here
something from the coming year”
Slowly lower your gaze back to the water, and concentrate not on the surface, but just below it, towards the stone. The floating herbs will appear to blur slightly as your eyes try to focus under the surface of the water. It may take a few tries ~ concentrating on the candles and then to the stone in the water, but soon you will be ready to ‘see’, and from the blurred forms of herbs floating on the water, you should be able to make out glimpses of future times, faces, or words with special meaning.
Love and light,
Lady Bastet
