Indulging on a leisurely brunch is a delightful way to enjoy a weekend morning. From the first pour of coffee to the final bite of bacon, the brunch should awaken you palate and leave you satisfied for the day. Delightful Pastries brunch is the perfect way to indulge on your day off.
Delightful Pastries offers guests a delicious and hearty way to start the day. The new brunch/breakfast menu balances traditional breakfast favorites and house specialties to offer delicious bites. The hearty plates are affordable at $6-$10 for a scrumptious homemade breakfast.
One house specialty that will feed the most substantial appetites is the British Mob Movie. This dish consists of pan-fried potato, tomato based beans with mixed vegetables, sunny side up eggs, extra thick cut bacon and blood sausage. The locally sourced, nitrate bacon is the indulgence on the plate. The balance between the perfectly cooked egg to the bright tomato flavors makes this dish a must try.
Since some guests enjoy a spicy start to the day, the 18th Street omelet is a must try. This omelet consists of queso Chichuhua, chorizo, black beans, homemade salsa, cilantro sour cream sauce and sriracha sour cream sauce. The sriracha sour cream sauce brings the heat but doesn't over power. The blend of flavors is perfect for the spice enthusiast.
For the sweeter menu items, the carrot cake pancakes are a must try. Similar to the restaurant's carrot cake, these pancakes incorporate bites of pineapple. The pancakes, served with real maple syrup, are elevated for the discerning palate and perfect for the little kids looking to try a new flavor.
Other menu highlights include Polish toast (bacon, cheese, and tomato served on rye toast), Piggly Wiggly, (polish ham, lean crispy bacon, pan-fried pork cutlet and pickles served on an everything bun), and gourmet pierogis.
Delightful Pastries has three locations in the Chicago area. The Old Town location, at 1710 N. Wells, serves brunch Tuesday through Sunday. In addition to brunch items, Delightful Pastries is a full service bakery, serving a variety of pastries.
