Screenwriters present free and open program at UMHB

Screenwriting students at University of Mary Hardin-Baylor will present insights on screenwriting and Readers’ Theater of their short screenplays. This presentation is free and open to the public on Dec. 7 at 4 p.m. in Brindley Auditorium in York Hall at UMHB.
 Austin McCormick with discuss realistic characters, Kayla Lynch will address fictional characters, and Halley Harrell will present insights about the appeal of underdog characters. Trey Hazelton will speak on the importance of authenticity in screenwriting and Tanner Clarke will address how to write effective dialogue. Hayley Ainsworth will provide structural guidelines and Chris Collins will present the use of the unexpected in screenplays. Kelsey Broussard will discuss what makes a screenplay inspirational and Megan Hardgrave will present what makes it redemptive. Cassy Olvera-Nordness will finally address effective endings in screenplays. A cast of readers will then present each of the students’ short screenplays as Readers’ Theatre. Theses short screenplays are in a broad range of entertaining and inspriational genres.
