Screenwriter promises ‘City of Bones’ news soon

Yesterday Mortal Instruments fans were glued to Twitter after the screenwriter, I. Marlene King for ‘City of Bones’ said, “Do you know The Mortal Instruments Books? I have some exciting news!”

Last November, King turned her script for the first movie in The Mortal Instruments film franchise into Screen Gems. I spoke to series author, Cassandra Clare about the script. “I really like it. The screenplay is the backbone of a movie and this version is much closer to the book. There is a long line of people that must sign-off on the script before filming can start,” said Clare.

Now King has said a little more but no news. This morning on Twitter she said, “I'm sorry. I've said as much as I can. More news soon I promise.” She followed that up with, “I think I have done you proud. TMI is "The Mortal Instruments". Amazing book series by @Cassieclare I have adapted as a movie. So excited for you all to see!”

The speculation is that the script is approved but nothing has been said in regards to that. The good news is that it doesn’t look like The Mortal Instruments fandom is far from, as King says, “exciting news.”
