There are literally tens of thousands of stocks that exist in the stock market. This can be overwhelming if you try to sort through them to find the ones you want to own. There are individual stocks, mutual funds, ETFs and others that exist. Fortunately every company like Schwab and E-trade offers a ‘stock screener’. You can enter basic criteria to meet your specific requirements and then go through the results to choose the stocks that meet your criteria.
By selecting the criteria, such as the type of stock, price of the stock, dividend yield, and other criteria, you can narrow down your choices. This is a great tool and will save you hours of trying to find them on your own. After you select the ones that interest you, you should do some research on them to see their history, prospectus, how well they have performed, and how long they have been around, along with any other factors that you want to investigate.
From there create a watch list so you can watch them, and keep track of their performance.
Keep in mind that past performance is not a guaranty of future performance.
