Today, Scream Franchise Examiner has your latest Scream 4 news...
Popsugar visited the set of Cougar Town on Wednesday and was treated to a conversation with Courteney Cox. The actress, who will be reprising her role as tabloid reporter-turned-author Gale Weathers, had this to say about her on-set experience:
How was it stepping back into the Scream franchise?
CC: That character is really over the top, and I just realized that was 10 years ago; all of the actors on the set, the new group, they're very subdued, kind of quiet. And I stick out like a sore thumb; I was like "Gail Weathers is back!" Like, are they going to talk any louder at all? They are very cool, and I'm older, and not as cool. But I stepped into my character; we'll see what happens. Dewey was Dewey! But then, you know, people have changed. People are cooler than me.
And then there was talk of future sequels…
Is it true that there will be more Scream films after this one?
CC: There is going to be a Scream 4, 5, and 6. [But] I don't know anything.
So there you have it: Further confirmation that Scream 4, if received well, will usher in a new trilogy. (Lucy Hale said as much earlier in the week.) But will Cox’s character live long enough to die another day?
Speaking of Cox, the post-gazette.com fingered the actress and husband David Arquette in predicting that the film will have the “Most awkward publicity tour” of 2011: "Scream 4" stars Courtney Cox Arquette and her estranged husband, David Arquette. The couple met on the set of "Scream" in 1996 and married three years later. They announced their separation in October, and he recently went into rehab after too much public blabbing about their marriage and other indulgences.
We respectfully disagree. Both Cox and Arquette have been strong advocates of the franchise, and their willingness to put aside their personal differences to film Scream 4 is evidence of their professionalism. SFE has no doubt that the respect and admiration with which they have treated one another throughout this difficult time is an indicator of the dignity with which they will handle their promotional responsibilities.
Meanwhile, our friends at HelloSidney.com continue to offer unique content for fans that require amusement during the long wait for April 15. And finally, we leave you with a few of those cryptic tweets from R.J. Torbert (AKA GameFaceGuy on Twitter) of Fun World:
if you could see me--it would blow your MIND-I need you to understand---that its you, I will FIND.--know about the PAST---Im coming up FAST
(Is that a threat, we wonder? Or a promise? Or perhaps both?)
