As Dimension Films gets ready to roll out the next film in the Scream saga on April 15th, 2011, test screenings for the movie begin tomorrow in Pennsylvania, and parts of the carefully guarded synopsis for Scream 4 have been revealed.
Invitations being sent out via email to potential test screeners mention a brief storyline for Scream 4, which reads:
Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), now the author of a self-help book, returns home to Woodsboro on the last stop of her book tour. There she reconnects with Sheriff Dewey (David Arquette) and Gale (Courteney Cox), who are now married, as well as her cousin Jill (Emma Roberts) and her Aunt Kate (Mary McDonnell). Unfortunately Sidney's appearance also brings about the return of Ghostface, putting Sidney, Gale, and Dewey, along with Jill, her friends, and the whole town of Woodsboro in danger.
Scream 4, directed by Wes Craven and written by original screenwriter, Kevin Williamson, is already shaping up to be one of the biggest releases of the Spring movie season. Its been ten years since the last film in the series, and fans are eagerly anticipating this reboot of the series, which has earned nearly $500 million in worldwide box office sales to date. Dimension Films is banking on a hit with Scream 4, which also stars Hayden Panettiere, Rory Caulkin, and Adam Brody.
While it's hard to say what the film will do in sales with ticket prices soaring and box office revenue dipping in recent years, there's no doubt that all eyes will be on Ghostface this April when Scream 4 debuts nationwide.
