It seems like sort of an odd match-up, but some lucky winners are going to score big with Washington state's latest Lottery promotion. The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), Amtrak and Washington's Lottery have developed a Scratch ticket to promote the state-sponsored Amtrak Cascades passenger rail service. The Amtrak Cascades Cash Train Ticket gives players a chance to win up to $50,000. The $5 ticket went on sale March 8 and is available through June, 2011.
In addition to cash prizes up to $50,000, three Second Chance Prizes will be drawn from non-winning tickets entered in the Lottery. The Second Chance Prize is provided by Amtrak Cascades,Tourism Whistler, Tourism Vancouver and Washington's Lottery. It's valued at approximately $3,000 and includes
- Two round-trip tickets aboard Amtrak Cascades to/from Vancouver, BC
- Two-night stay in Vancouver at the Hampton Inn and Suites by Hilton
- Dinner and a spa package for two in Vancouver
- Two-night accommodations at the Hilton Whistler Resort & Spa
- Two one-day Alpine lift tickets for Whistler Blackcomb Mountains
- One dinner certificate at an award-winning restaurant in Whistler
- $470 in cash
A percentage of sales from the Amtrak Cascades Cash Train Ticket will be reinvested in Amtrak Cascades operational costs to help offset the state's tax subsidy. Depending on total ticket sales, WSDOT could recieve as much as $144,000 for Amtrak Cascades.
