If you've been in a craft store or perused scrapbooking blogs, you may have heard about the Smash book. Read on to learn what a Smash book is, and what you can do with it.

A Smash book is a product manufactured by EKSuccess under the K & Company brand. Basically, it is a wirebound book that comes with a combination pen/glue applicator. The books are available in different sizes, styles, and colors to fit your tastes and interests. There are a wide variety of accessory products available too, such as stickers, labels, themed products, extra pens and glue, and so on.

So what do you do with a Smash book?

  • You can use it as a trip journal, writing down your experiences and pasting in receipts, ticket stubs, photos, and other memorabilia as you travel.
  • You can use it as a weight loss journal, where you include "before" pictures, interim pictures, measurements, weight loss, and food journaling
  • If you're planning your wedding, you can use the Smash book to hold your ideas, color swatches, contact information, sketches, lists, and inspiration
  • If you're remodeling your home, you can include paint chips, magazine inspiration, catalog pages, contractor information, sketches, and other notes

A Smash book is perfect for the non-scrapbooker who still wants to preserve memories. It's also perfect for the die-hard scrapbooker who wants a portable tool to document something specific.

In the Boston area and greater New England, you can purchase Smash books at locations where K & Company products are sold, such as Michael's, AC Moore, and JoAnn Fabrics. Ink About It in Westford, MA stocks Smash book products, as do many other independent scrapbook and stamping supply stores.

If you're interested in taking a class that introduces you to the Smash book and it's products, you can sign up for "No Rules Scrapbooking" sponsored by Creating Keepsakes and EK Success at the CKC Manchester event in April 2012. Some Michael's stores are also offering Smash book classes, so check with your local store to find out about dates and times.
