We do not get oil from Iran nor gas. However the fact that on Sunday Iran stopped oil going to the European countries has raised oil prices to 105 dollars a barrel. This drives our gas prices up here in Scranton as well as the rest of the nation. The lack of American oil drilling in a timely manner has hampered our energy independence. Much of our regions gas prices are topping 3.65 a gallon above national average and our unemployment at or above 9% in our area we are in no shape to face 4 dollar a gallon gas. Gas at that price for very long will cause more unemployment forĀ Scranton.
The halt of oil to the European Union by Iran is yet another move in this seemingly unending chess match between east and west. Iran claims sanctions are the cause of this move in an ever increasing volitile region of the world. The question is what is the next move and by whom?
