Scotty McCreery took home his first award ever on the American Music Awards Monday night. The winner of American Idol was in Las Vegas celebrating country music and got a big gift from fans when he won the New Artist of the Year award. After picking up his prize, the entertained performed his latest single The Trouble with Girls.
Giving a strong performance, the singer seemed to be extremely comfortable with the arrangement of the song. In his live segments of lately, McCreery has sometimes over emphasized words making it to be almost a screaming instead of singing performance. Not the case on Monday night as the entertainer seemed to be in the groove and dished his song just like it is expected to be heard.
The evening definitely had plenty of surprising, including Scotty McCreery’s win as most fans thought The Band Perry would have taken home the award. As luck would have it (and the fans voted) the American Idol winner got the top award and a chance to perform a complete song on the show. The firs award for his career that started in June, McCreery has been on the fast track in country music.
