Generally speaking, when there is good news to be had, you'd think that an artist would hear about it first from their publicist or management team. But, shortly after Scotty McCreery was told that he was one of the three finalists nominated for the ACM New Artist award, he found out via some of his fans on Twitter, that his single, "The Trouble with Girls" had been certified gold, with over 500,000 digital downloads purchased.
“It’s been a good couple of days,” Scotty said in a recent press release after learning the news. “I am pumped! Looking at the final eight in the category, everybody in there was so good. I listen to all of their music. So to be a finalist is an honor. It’s been an incredible year. Being up for this award means a lot to me. I am ready to head to Vegas!”
"The Trouble with Girls" is Scotty's second consecutive single to have reached Gold certified status. The single is off of McCreery's debut album, Clear As Day, which debuted at the top of Billboard's Top 200 Albums charts, making him the youngest male artist to open at the top of an all-genre chart with a debut release.
Scotty is one of the headliners at the upcoming "Jukebox Music Festival" in Anderson. The festival is a 3-day event, happening on July 20 - 23rd at the Shasta District Fairgrounds. Scotty will headline the Friday, July 20th show. Tickets are available now on the Jukebox Music Festival website, starting at $129, for all three days of the event. Other headliners at the festival include Alan Jackson and Joe Nichols.
If you can't make it to the Jukebox Music Festival, you can catch Scotty as one of the opening acts at Brad Paisley's Virtual Reality Tour 2012, when it stops at the Sleep Train Amphitheater in Wheatland, on July 26th. Tickets are not on sale yet, but I will be posting about it when I find out when they will go on sale. The Band Perry is also on the Brad Paisley tour.
** UPDATE ** February 13th - Just found out that Scotty McCreery won't be part of Brad's tour date in Wheatland. Instead, Easton Corbin will be opening with The Band Perry.
