Wednesday, Jan. 29, book distribution specialist Vickie Mullins will speak to the Scottsdale Society of Women Writers at the regular monthly meeting held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Chaparral Suites Scottsdale, 5001 N. Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale, Ariz. Cost is $25 for members, $28 for guests.
When it comes to selling an author’s book, marketing is important, according to Mullins, but without an avenue of distribution, all the marketing in the world won’t do any good. At the meeting, Mullins will share distribution strategies she’s personally been using and fine-tuning for the last six years, strategies designed to move books and maximize returns.
Mullins holds a degree in journalism from Northern Arizona University and is the founder of Mullins Creative, a boutique graphic design firm that has created book covers and interiors since 1991. In 2005, she authored the first of eight titles in her “I Want You to Know Me” series. Each of these fill-in-the-blank books asks and answers questions that we all have about our loved ones and ourselves. Answering these questions helps make memories and create a lasting legacy.
Since 2007, through Perfect Bound Marketing, Mullins has shepherded authors through the self-publishing process. Her goal is to help them maximize revenue from their book sales while still maintaining control and ownership of their books.
An engaging and effective communicator, Mullins also shares the lessons she has learned with her speaker clients.
