According to an article published by The Courier on September 9, a group of knitters joined together at Tannadice Park in the Scottish city of Dundee to break the Guinness World Record for simultaneously knitting together.
The Courier reports that 1,250 knitters of all ages sat together simultaneously knitting together for 15 minutes in an attempt to break a Guinness World Record, which was previously set at 3,081 knitters. Unfortunately, the group didn't break Guinness World Record, but they did set a Scottish record.
The event was supported by Knitting Pin and Hobbycraft, who donated huge amounts of yarn for the knitters to use during the Big Knit 2013.
Norma Duncan, who was responsible for the Big Knit 2013 was reportedly pleased to see so many people come out for the event, and plans to try again in 2014.
