Creative director, Scott Lawson, may have been laid off from his advertising agency but he is setting one hell of an example in a stepping stone role of part time teacher in Milwaukee.
In an interview with Scott Lawson, we learn what it takes to survive being laid off as a Creative Director at Equity Creative in Kenosha, Wisconsin. He has held many different art director positions throughout his twenty year career in the advertising business. He now has the chance to give back to the community that has given him so much.
In July of 2013, Scott was suddenly laid off from his job at Equity Creative where he held the title of Creative Director. He found himself in a position where he could use this time to constructively give back to the community by teaching part time in the evenings while continuing to search for a job in the field of advertising during the days.
Scott and one of his longtime creative coworkers began working on a project they had devised over the years but had not brought to fruition until last winter. They decided to organize specific classes where one could create a professional looking portfolio to show on perspective job interviews. They created classes in which the students could revise and update their artistic skills to be better interns and creative workers. This kind of learning process made it possible for these individuals to look better in their search for better careers, better consulting projects, and to make the entire artistic community look more professional and sophisticated.

In addition to his many artistic talents Scott sets an amazing example in his role of helping many others in the volunteer organizations of which he is affiliated with. He helps others with respect to their personal and professional lives. He is a true leader in the community. He leads an unselfish life in his nonprofessional venue. You can always reach him by phone with a question or professional advice. He stands by his friends and supports his family. He has helped college graduates revise their resumes and improve their artistic skills through the classes he teaches at night at Milwaukee Portfolio School.
His classes may be found at Milwaukee Portfolio School and if you have any interest in taking his classes please contact Scott Lawson at 262 408 9204.
