Scott Christian Sava's Gary the Pirate nominated for Friends of Lulu awards

Gary the Pirate

Gary the Pirate, written by local creator Scott Christian Sava, has been nominated by Friends of Lulu for the Leah Adezio Award For Best Kid-Friendly Work.

Gary the Pirate is the tale of a 13-year-old girl who has grown tired of dealing with boys, until she meats a young pirate and embarks on an adventure for treasure. The story is written by Sava and illustrated by Tracy Bailey.

Friends of Lulu announced nominees for the 2009 awards earlier in the week. The Friends of Lulu awards are given each year to honor oustanding comics work by or about women.

Gary the Pirate was published by IDW in June.

A complete list of this year's Friends of Lulu nominees can be found here.
