The San Antonio Scorpions continued to add to their 2013 squad when the announced the signing of Bryan Jordan on Monday afternoon.
Jordan most recently played for Major League Soccer Champions LA Galaxy where he spent the past four years making 56 appearances.
Jordan is a versatile player and, being right footed, can play anywhere on the right and has filled various roles in his career from right defense all the way up to a striker, having scored 22 goals in his High School career.
After playing at Oregon State University he went on to the nearby Portland Timbers, at that time in USL Division 1, helping the team to the semi-finals in his first season with the club.
It was in his second professional season, in 2008, that he joined LA Galaxy and made his MLS debut on May 10th. He spent some of his first season on loan back at Portland where he proved even more prolific for the Timbers scoring three goals in just eight appearances.
Head Coach Tim Hankinson was happy with the acquisition, mentioning in a press-release, “We’re very happy and excited to have Bryan on board... He’s one of our quickest and speediest players who’ll be able to fill in at the right-back and the right-midfield and even as a second forward.”
It is clear that Jordan has impressed in the early days of the training camp ahead of the 2013 season and his speed could be vital in a league like the NASL which often leaves wide spaces behind the defenders.
Jordan's signing ends a tumultuous few months for the 27 year-old after LA declined his 2013 option at the end of his 2012 contract which saw San Jose Earthquakes pick him up in the 2012 MLS Re-Entry Draft on December 14th only for the Supporters Shield champions also not pick him up, allowing San Antonio to make an offer.
