The Los Angeles Galaxy had a scoreless draw on Thursday night against Costa Rican team Herediano in the first leg of the quarter-finals of the CONCACAF Champions League.
The LA Galaxy web page reported that the two will face next week on Wednesday for the second leg in Los Angeles, the first leg was played in Heredia, Costa Rica.
The article reported that Herediano played slightly better than the Galaxy. However, the Galaxy had a goal annulled by the linesman for an offside call.
Mike Magee found the net in the second half, assisted by Robbie Keane, but Magee was ruled offside.
Both teams hit each other’s crossbar. Herediano had a penalty kick at the end of the second half to put things away, but the kick sailed high and hit the crossbar.
The draw was an advantage for the Galaxy, since it was played as host. Next week, it’s the Galaxy’s turn to host the Costa Rican club team. With the home field advantage, the Los Angeles Galaxy is ruled as the favorite to win this bout.
The winner gets to play Monterey from Mexico or Xelaju from El Salvador in the semi-final of the CONCACAF Champions League. So far, Monterey has the edge, since it beat Xelaju in El Salvador 3-1.
Monterey is also the two-time defending Champion of this tournament.
