That is right! You now can own some of Tony’s personal goods and also help a great cause.
The Tony Hawk Foundation is running a special auction event to raise funds and continue the decade-long work of creating free, public skateparks for at-risk youth.
On the block are some of Tony’s personal belongings and other cool stuff – here are some of the highlights.
The DUB Edition 2010 Dodge Challenger RT is probably the item that will bring in most funds. The car has less than 9K miles and one gigantic list of customized features, including rims, tires, stereo system and lots more.
Tony’s 1st Place Vert trophy from the 1998 World Cup Munster Monster Mastership event in Germany is definitely a collectible item for skateboarding aficionados.
Tony’s very own 1989 Powell Peralta Street Skate deck, a vintage “mini” sized deck that is scratched and used, ridden by the Birdman himself.
A must for sneakerheads, there is also a pair of 1997 Tony Hawk 2 Prototype Airwalk shoes. Listed as new, they’re white and size 12.
There are literally dozens of items: signed decks, jerseys, posters, books, shoes… Too many to list here, so go to www.thfauction.org and check it out. The auction runs through March 11, 2012 and you can help without necessarily spending a lot of money, even if you’re not a skateboarder or a collector.
But, just in case you are, you could actually even make a buck out of it by investing a little dough. For example, at the time of this posting, “Golden Hawk”, a 80x60 oil in canvas painting by James Seward, estimated at $14,000.00, was going for only $0.99!
