Score big on Super Bowl Sunday with a vegan feast from gardein

Angelenos love any excuse for a party and the 48th Super Bowl on February 2 this year is as good as any. If you’re planning to entertain during the big game, gardein, makers of frozen gourmet, vegetarian easy-to-fix fare, has a few suggestions that take the guest work out hosting—not to mention leave you valuable time to watch the game or super creative commercials, whichever appeal most.

If you’re feeding a group of ten hungry men (or female football fans) here are some hearty options provided by gardein to your LA Travel Diva Examiner via a company spokesperson:

Going the whole nine (or 100) yards from appetizers to entrees with gardein

· Greek Style Marinated Beefless Bites with Sour Cream Sauce. Serves 8.

· Active time: 20 minutes.

· Cooking time 10 minutes


· Big Guy & Family Friendly Pizza: Serves 8.

· Active time: 25 minutes.

· Cooking time: 15 minutes (Using Prepared dough)


· Sticky Sesame Wings: Serves 4.

Beer & Alcohol Pairings:

· Beer: A hard cider or a crisp pale Ale would bring out the highlights in these dishes.

· Simple cocktails are excellent and can be vegan using any variety of white liquors. For simplicity, Gin and Vodka tonics with citrus or even create a Jalapeño Vodka Lemonade for fun. (See recipe)

Thirst quencher to enjoy while Bruno Mars performs at half-time (see video):

Jalapeño Vodka Lemonade. Serves 4

  • 2 cups fresh lemon juice
  • 1 – 2 jalapenos (to taste)
  • ¼ cup sugar or sweet syrup
  • 1 quart water
  • 3 cups vodka (to taste)
  • Ice

1. Using a 2 quart pitcher, pour water, fresh lemon juice and sugar/sweet syrup. Stir.

2. Muddle 1 jalapeno and slice the other into approximately 1/8 rounds.

3. Toss the muddled jalapenos into pitcher. Stir. Add some rounds for color.

4. Pour into rocks glasses and serve with a slice of jalapeno on rim.
