Maria Shriver has said she's "humbled" by the tons of love she's received from fans after the announcement was made she split from husband Arnold Schwarzenegger after 25 years of marriage.
She'll need more now that her husband has made a shocking revelation public, that he fathered a child with a long-time employee of the family.
"After leaving the governor's office I told my wife about this event, which occurred over a decade ago," Schwarzenegger said in a statement. "I understand and deserve the feelings of anger and disappointment among my friends and family. There are no excuses and I take full responsibility for the hurt I have caused. I have apologized to Maria, my children and my family. I am truly sorry."
The employee resigned in January after 20 years of service with the family, the Los Angeles Times reports. The former California governor, 63, said he has financially supported the child throughout the years.
"I ask that the media respect my wife and children through this extremely difficult time," he said in conclusion of his brief statment. "While I deserve your attention and criticism, my family does not."
Shriver, 55, had no comment at this time for People, but she won't be able to stay quiet for long. The much-respected journalist and advocate has an international fan base that is lighting up Twitter and Facebook with angry and sad messages over this latest twist in the couple's break up.
They have four children together, ranging in age from 13 to 21.
