The Los Angeles Times reports that there’s a fight brewing between Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver over the financial details of their divorce settlement.

This is a drastic departure from previous reports from TMZ.com and RadarOnline, and other media outlets which stated that Schwarzenegger was prepared to be more than generous regarding the couple’s marital assets. See Arnold Schwarzenegger Wants Maria Shriver Back But Their Divorce is Still On
Schwarzenegger and Maria, married for 25 years, had no pre-nup. So according to California law, their marital assets are subject to a 50/50 split. See Schwarzenegger and 3 Other Cheating Husbands Guilty of Financial Infidelity.
The couple’s net worth is said to be an estimated $400 million dollars.
Disagreement over Legal Fees.
Another sticking point between Schwarzenegger and Maria is whether or not he should be responsible for paying Maria Shriver’s legal fees.
In the divorce papers, Maria Shriver filed, she requested that Schwarzenegger cover her legal costs for the divorce. . See Maria Shriver Makes a Preemptive Strike against Arnold Schwarzenegger.
But Schwarzenegger has asked that attorney fees and legal costs be jointly paid. He feels that each party should foot the bill for their respective legal fees.
Schwarzenegger Balking Over the Payment of Alimony aka Spousal Support
Maria asked for spousal support in her divorce petition.
Schwarzenegger’s attorney, Bob Kaufman, checked the box on the legal documents asking the judge to terminate Maria Shriver’s right to receive spousal support.
According to this morning’s news report from The Los Angeles Times, divorce attorneys say that Schwarzenegger's move is unusual; but that it could be an indication of the size or amount of community property to which Maria Shriver is entitled to receive.
Lynn Soodik, a Santa Monica divorce specialist, told the Los Angeles Times that Schwarzenegger’s request could be an indication that Maria’s share of the assets from their divorce, will generate enough interest to support the lifestyle she became accustomed to during their marriage.
Schwarzenegger evidently feels that with an estimated $200 million dollars, Maria will have enough money that she won't need any additional alimony, or spousal support.
But the divorce could get down and dirty if Schwarzenegger and Maria can’t come to an agreement on the financial terms of their divorce.
Custody is Not an Issue
Schwarzenegger and Maria have four children together – two daughters, Katherine, 21 and Christina, 19; and two sons, Patrick, 17, and Christopher 13.

Schwarzenegger and Maria are asking for joint custody of the two sons, Patrick and Christopher, who are still minors.
Schwarzenegger will be expected to provide child support for the boys, which could total tens of thousands of dollars per month.
Living Arrangements after their Divorce
It has already been decided that Schwarzenegger will retain ownership of the family estate in Brentwood, California. The 7-bedroon mansion is valued at approximately $23 million dollars.
