Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle has just signed a bill into law that forces schools to teach the glories of organized labor and collective bargaining. Doyle has received significant campaign contributions from labor unions over the years prior to forcing their special interest agenda into the classroom.
Ever since unions have been involved in teaching, our system has spiraled into laughable mediocrity. It is what happens when you abandon actual education to turn children into racially-sensitive little environmentalists.
Teachers' unions even tried to have the fact that 9/11 was committed by Muslim extremists scrubbed from the history books.
Their effect on the economy has been equally crushing.
Let's review:
Unions used to serve a purpose, back when there were no child labor laws, minimum wage or 40 hour work weeks. But all they do now is drive jobs overseas by needlessly making it completely unaffordable to do business here (along with tax hikes, over-regulation, frivolous lawsuits and everything else liberals support).
They make seniority more important than performance. They make it nearly impossible to fire incompetents. They create abusive rules that senselessly bankrupt companies. They create unnecessary jobs to line their pockets with more union dues.
They are a self-serving, purely destructive force in today's economy. Yet the people of Wisconsin are now being forced to have their children brainwashed into singing their praises.

The left has been indoctrinating our children into the Cult of Liberalism in our public schools and colleges for decades. It's time that we fought back against this left wing propaganda.
If WE THE PEOPLE do not start to take control of our own lives by paying attention to the truth of what is happening in government I freedoms will be gone very soon. You must get out and vote against big government on January 19. We cannot afford to have Ted Kennedy's old seat go to another progressive.
Thank you for this article Mr Moon.
I have been burned by three unions in the past.
I will NEVER be a union worker EVER AGAIN!
We need to let our school boards know that we will not support their Liberal, socialist left wing aggendas in our schools being taught to our children anymore, we have been asleep in the past, but no longer will we sit back and let them indoctrinate the future Americans (Our Children)Wake Up People!!!!
That link about the teachers' unions and 9/11 is disgusting. American hating idiots.
"Wisconsin schools will be required to teach the HISTORY of organized labor..."
By your own admission, organized labor is an important part of U.S. history. Nowhere in the cited article does it say that students will be forced to learn about the present day labor movement, much less be indoctrinated. Once again you have baselessly inferred something so that you could make it fit to your point of view. Tell me, Mr. Moon, are you suggesting that certain parts of history be withheld from students?
Unions are an obsolete and destructive socialist force allied solely with the Democrat party of destruction. Almost all unions a guilty of outright criminal conduct and should be brought down as they currently exist - by legislation that forces them to stay out of politics and forces them to concentrate solely on complains from their members, which they do very little of these days.
Easy folks. Just remember this phrase:
YARTHS
Yet Another Reason to Home School
Just because you are obligated to pay taxes to the Educational System does not mean one should use it.
(Oh BTW - The School will miss out on that pesky government matching money for your child - shame)
Ryan,
So then you would be fine with a Republican governor who took tons of money from the NRA forcing schools to start teaching the HISTORY of everything the NRA has done to protect our gun rights?
Or are you against teaching history?
Sleazy attempt to distort the issue. Try again.
Robert, Robert, Robert. You accuse me of distorting the issue? You've once again employed a strawman argument to try and tear me down. You assume that I'm against gun rights since I have a liberal point of view, but you'd do well to know that I live in Maine and am a proudly licensed hunter. I have no qualms about teaching the history of gun rights in the U.S., since anything in the Constitution is worthy of historical examination.
That said, you failed to address my legitimate criticism of your article. You took a story about teaching the HISTORY of labor and baselessly inferred that it meant the indocrination of students. If we're going to extol the virtues of capitalism, we might as well consider the organizing of labor that's an inherent aspect of the free market. Pointing out your embellishment is not distortion, my friend. That's pointing out--to borrow one of your favorite phrases--your "partisan hackery."
Ryan,
Yes, I DO accuse you of distorting the issue...as you are once again doing here. Nothing I said indicated that I assumed you weren't for guns.
I merely highlighted how absurd and sleazy it is for you to try and rationalize forced union propaganda in schools by comparing it to forced NRA propaganda. YOU are the only one making assumptions here (and, again, distorting the issue).
And again, yes, it IS propaganda to require schools to emphasize the accomplishments of one powerful special interest group...especially when we already learn about organized labor in high school.
Have some integrity next time.
