School supply signups begin Monday

The start of school is still almost 3 weeks away, but for those who need help with school supplies this year, the time to act is now.

This Monday and Tuesday, 28 and 29 July 2014, parents with children enrolled in the Burns Flat- Dill City School System may register for help with school supplies.

This ministry is sponsored by the Burns Flat Cumberland Presbyterian Church and for the past several years has helped between 50 and 80 students each year. Most of the money to buy these supplies comes from the Church but others donate as well. The local ministerial alliance donated enough to fill the backpacks of 10 children, perhaps more as ministry members shop for off season discounts during the entire year.

Individuals have been bringing Pastor Tom donations over the past week and the funds to buy supplies appear to be on a par with the previous two years. The donations do not always come from the same place, but they do always come.

Anyone needing help with supplies and who has children attending the Burns Flat – Dill City School system needs to register between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. on Monday or Tuesday.

There is no documentation required to qualify. Most of the efforts of this ministry are directed towards the children in elementary school, but over the past several years the church has been able to help some with those junior high and high school needs.

Anyone desiring to donate to this ministry may stop by the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and talk with Pastor Tom or send a check to the CPC attn: Backpacks to PO Box 8, Burns Flat OK 73624.

Those desiring to help with sign ups should call Pastor Tom at 580 562 4706.
