School shooting in Decatur GA school has parents considering homeschooling

A shooting at McNair Elementary School in Dekalb County has Atlanta area parents in an uproar. It is bringing up questions as to the safety of children in the school, and causing them to question why more hasn't been done to protect the children. Fortunately, this time, there were no injuries or fatalities, even the gunman surrendered safely. However, knowing it could have been much worse, has parents questioning whether or not public school is a good idea.

As homeschoolers lament, "this is why we homeschool", one mother at McNair Elementary, said the following, "Honestly, it makes my not want to sent my children to school. It makes me want to homeschool my daughter." "The fact that someone can come in a school and have an armed weapon, and me not be able to get to her and hold her and comfort her because I don't know what's going on with her." I feel that maybe in my care maybe she's safer". (see video of full interview)

Undoubtedly, this is a knee-jerk reaction, and there probably won't be a mass exodus to homeschooling because of this incident, but parents who were already on the fence about homeschooling will surely be testing the waters.
