School shooting at Lone Star College: Suspect shoots himself in the buttocks

A school shooting was reported Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 22, 2013, at Lone Star College in Houston, Texas. The shooting happened around 12:31 p.m. CST, and three people were injured. Another student was transported with either a heart attack or stroke. Various reports have been issued in the early hours of the school shooting, but CNN has the latest details.

The shooting was reportedly an altercation between two individuals one of whom has been confirmed as a student. A maintenance person was caught in the crossfire, and he was shot in the leg. The man, in his 50s, is in stable condition.

CNN reported earlier that a witness heard one gunman say, "I don't want to fight you; I'm not trying to go to jail"

In the latest CNN reports, it is unclear how many guns or gunmen were involved. The story is still in early stages of investigation, but Culture Map Houston is now reporting that the gunman shot himself in the buttocks and fled on foot.

After a manhunt that brought out scores of officers from multiple agencies, the shooter turned himself in around 2:15 p.m. at Northwest Medical Center, where his condition remains unknown.

While the maintenance man is in stable condition, the second man in the argument was shot three times and remains in critical condition at Ben Taub Hospital.

From these reports, it is not clear if the 2nd man had a gun, but both men are being held in custody, according to Culture Map Houston.
