School levy fails
Southington - The special election was held on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 requesting an additional 4.1 mill tax levy. The levy proposal failed by 58% of the vote.
Voters have turned down additional levies in the last 7 elections, 3 of which were special elections costing tax payers approximately $4,000.00 apiece.
In this down economy, the Southington Local School District has wasted approximately $12,000.00 of tax payer money asking for more tax payer money.
Tax payers are showing that they are sick and tired of the government wasting money, only to ask for more. This is true from the president to local areas. This was shown in the failure of the Mahoning County sales tax, the Trumbull County license fee increase, and others.
There are sure to be more levies in the upcoming primaries. The trend must continue.
Accused killer and his parents arraigned
Youngstown - Jamar Houser, accused killer of an 80 year old woman, is due to appear in Youngstown Municipal Court today.
Houser's parents, John Houser and Frances Cianciola, are also due to be arraigned this afternoon on charges of Retaliation. The pair stands accused of threatening to kill a witness in court on Thursday.
There is no question as to why the son turned out the way he did.
