School closures for Spokane, Moses Lake, Pullman and many other cities are likely on Jan. 29. These school closures will stem from a snowstorm that has hit Eastern Washington and continues to accumulate as the morning hours tick by. According to an early report from Wednesday, the Moses Lake School District is closed due to the weather. Joining Moses Lake (so far) are the Harrington and Warden school districts in closing on Wednesday.
There are going to be a lot of reports coming out as people in charge start waking up and assessing the weather situation in cities all around Eastern Washington. This will likely lead to many more delays and closures as the weather continues to get worse. None of the schools within Spokane or Spokane Valley have indicated that there will be any delays in the buses and it appears that everything will be on schedule for the rest of Wednesday within the city limits.
A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for many areas until later in the afternoon, with additional accumulation expected in the higher elevations. The weather service is warning of hazardous travel conditions through much of the day and calling for 2 to 5 additional inches of snow.
