School assembly: A time and a place for dancing but not for stripping

According to the Feb. 19, CBS News, police arrested New York mom Aydrea Meaders at North Albany Academy Friday morning after she allegedly stripped during a school assembly in front of more than 200 students.

It is still unknown why the New York mom opted to do a striptease in front of the children and staff of the pre-kindergarten through eight grade school.

Albany School District officials noted that the school assembly, a celebration of “Black History Month,” was going as planned until the mother began the impromptu striptease.

Children were dancing on the stage when Meaders decided to join the students

Ron Lesko of the Albany School District said, "It had been going as a terrific event. The cafeteria was full. We probably had about 200 students in there from throughout the school," reported ABC News 10.

"It wasn't an expected part of the routine but she wasn't doing anything inappropriate," said Lesko.

Suddenly, things went awry when Meaders began to perform a striptease – first removing her coat, and before staff and teachers could react, the 24-year-old Albany mom whose son attends the academy was naked from the waist up.

Meaders was charged with seven counts of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of public lewdness.
