This morning, Scholastic announced that it was increasing the first printing of Mockingjay, the final book in Suzanne Collins' best-selling trilogy, The Hunger Games.
The first printing of Mockingjay will be 1.2 million copies -- increased from the original print run of 750,000 copies.
The Hunger Games, first published in September 2008, has spent the last 93 consecutive weeks on the New York Times bestseller list. There are more than 2.3 million copies of The Hunger Games and its sequel, Catching Fire, in print in the U.S. and Canada to date.
Mockingjay will be published on August 24th in the U.S. and Canada. it comes out a day later, on August 25th, in the U.K., Australia and New Zealand.
A trade paperback edition of The Hunger Games is set to come out on Saturday, July 3rd, with a first printing of 500,000 copies.
