Schmidt Funeral Home, owned by leading death care services provider Carriage Services, announced Thursday the purchase of 10 acres of land fronting The Grand Parkway in Katy, which will soon be home to its second funeral services business in the area.
The Schmidt Funeral Home Grand Parkway location will be conveniently located near Grand Parkway and Bay Hill Boulevard, south of I-10. Construction is scheduled to begin immediately, Carriage Services said in a company press release.
Established in 1945, Schmidt Funeral Home has been serving Katy, Texas for over 60 years. Carriage Services acquired the business in September of 2012. The owner, Hank Schmidt Jr., remained involved in the business as a consultant, while long time employee Cyndi Hoots is being named the business's managing partner. The acquisition of Schmidt Funeral Home represented Carriage's first acquisition in Harris County, Texas.
Carriage Services is a leading provider of death care services and merchandise in the United States. Carriage operates 167 funeral homes in 26 states and 33 cemeteries in 12 states.
